MQTT API

Real-time weather warnings for Re-users over MQTTS. Subscribe to country topics or warnings-ALL and receive GeoJSON Features as they are issued.

Overview

The MQTT API is for Re-users who need near real-time weather warnings from MeteoAlarm Members. Warnings are published over MQTTS. Subscribe to a country topic (for example warnings-AT) or warnings-ALL to receive updates as GeoJSON Features. Messages follow the same feature shape as the EDR REST API and include WIS2 notification fields.

MQTT is a separate protocol from the HTTP EDR API. Historical queries are served on EDR; near real-time push is MQTT only.

Public access via WIS2

No registration needed. MeteoAlarm warnings are republished on WMO WIS2 Global Brokers—subscribe with the public everyone/everyone credentials to topic origin/a/wis2/eu-eumetnet-warnings/data/core/weather/advisories-warnings.

Direct access requires a valid API token. Connect with username api and password <token> (replace <token> with your issued token).

Topics

Topic names use the pattern warnings-{countryCode}. Country codes match the locations available from the EDR locations endpoint. warnings-ALL receives every warning for all locations.

Message format

Each MQTT payload is a single GeoJSON Feature. The inline geometry is a bounding box; a link with rel: geometry points to the exact shape. CAP warnings are linked as XML/JSON in the links section. The Feature id is the notification UUID.
